Cookie Policy

Effective date: July 1, 2026

1. About This Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how HackQuest, Inc. ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on gethackquest.com. It supplements our Privacy Policy. HackQuest is a developer training platform; cookies are used to keep you signed in to your learner account, remember your stack preferences, and measure how developers navigate the site so we can improve it.

2. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow us to recognise your device, maintain your session state, store preferences, and measure usage. We also use related technologies such as local storage for cookie-banner state and session tokens.

3. How We Use Cookies

Category Examples on HackQuest Lifetime
Strictly necessary Learner session token, CSRF token, cookie-banner dismissal state Session to 12 months
Preferences Selected tech stack, theme setting Up to 12 months
Analytics Self-hosted, anonymised usage metrics (page views, PR submission flow) Up to 13 months

4. Notice and Choice

gethackquest.com operates under a notice-only consent model. By continuing to use the Service, you acknowledge our use of cookies as described in this Policy. You can opt out of analytics cookies through our cookie notice banner or by configuring your browser. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled without breaking core platform functionality such as keeping you signed in.

5. Universal Opt-Out Signals

Where applicable state law requires (for example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon), we honour browser-transmitted opt-out signals such as the Global Privacy Control ("GPC") for sale and targeted-advertising categories. When a GPC signal is detected, analytics initialisation is suppressed for that browser session.

6. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies may be set by third parties acting as our service providers, such as anonymised analytics. We have written agreements with such providers limiting their use of data to providing services to the Company. We do not permit third-party advertising cookies on gethackquest.com.

7. Managing Cookies

  • Use the cookie notice banner on this site to acknowledge cookies; click "Cookie preferences" in the footer to reopen the banner at any time.
  • Browser settings allow you to block or delete cookies; see aboutcookies.org for browser-specific instructions. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent login from working.

8. Changes and Contact

We may update this Policy. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect any change. For questions about cookies on gethackquest.com:
